Basketball Game Preview: Gentry Rams vs. Greenville Hornets

The Gentry Rams will square off against the Greenville Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Gentry and six for Greenville.

On Tuesday, Gentry came up short against Holmes County Central and fell 67-56. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Jaguars are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Greenville suffered their biggest defeat since February 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Cleveland Central 61-30. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Gentry will need focus on slowing down A'Tavius McChristion, one of several Greenville players who made an impact when they last played. He posted nine points and three steals.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Gentry, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Gentry strolled past Greenville when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 54-37. Does Gentry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Greenville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
