Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Apaches vs. Santa Monica Vikings

The Centennial Apaches will head out to take on the Santa Monica Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial has given up an average of 12.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Centennial fell victim to Santa Monica and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 18-0. The Apaches' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

For Santa Monica's part, Kaveh Naini was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Naini was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Eddie Jennings looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Santa Monica is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Santa Monica let Brady Satinover and Eric Gonzalez run wild. Satinover scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Gonzalez scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Satinover also scored two runs, which is notable because Santa Monica is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Tre Camp also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Santa Monica always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .694. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Santa Monica's record is now 6-4. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
