Football Recap: Brick Memorial Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Brick Memorial was the 34-27 winner over Donovan Catholic when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs were just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 15-14 to the Griffins. Despite 131 more yards than the Griffins, the Mustangs couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Defeat or not, Brick Memorial got some senior leadership from Nazeer Whittaker and Jason Lajara. Whittaker gained 131 total yards and two touchdowns, while Lajara threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns.

The critical scores for Donovan Catholic came from Ethan Nicolas and Alex Staten.

Brick Memorial's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Donovan Catholic, their record now sits at 2-3.

Coming up, Brick Memorial will venture away from home to take on Holmdel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Donovan Catholic, they will host Toms River East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' defense has only allowed 13 points per game this season, so the Griffins' offense will have their work cut out for them.
