Basketball Recap: Jesus Jaramillo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Segerstrom

Katella hadn't done well against Segerstrom recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Katella Knights walked away with a 51-42 win over the Segerstrom Jaguars. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered an 86-38 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Katella got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jesus Jaramillo out in front who went 6 for 10 on his way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dillon Curtis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Katella smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive matches.

Katella pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Segerstrom, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-10.

Katella will challenge Kennedy at 6:31 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennedy will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something Katella surely won't give up without a fight. As for Segerstrom, they will face off against Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
