Softball Game Preview: Covington Trojans vs. Benton Central Bison

The Covington Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Benton Central Bison at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Covington and seven for Benton Central.

Covington came up short against West Vigo on Monday, falling 16-6.

Haley Holycross made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Preslee Shaw, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Benton Central didn't have quite enough to beat Lebanon on Monday and fell 4-2.

Benton Central saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Linder, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Covington's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Benton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.

Covington skirted past Benton Central 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
