Baseball Recap: Fossil Ridge Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Fossil Ridge won against Rock Canyon last Saturday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Everything went the SaberCats' way against the Roosevelt Roughriders as they made off with an 11-2 win. The SaberCats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Vedant Sharma looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Griffin and Luc Gaca-Thiele did most of the damage at the plate: Griffin went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Gaca-Thiele went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Lang, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Fossil Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.

Fossil Ridge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-4.

Fossil Ridge and Roosevelt should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. The SaberCats will square off against ThunderRidge at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (6 vs. 107). Meanwhile, Roosevelt (ranked 57th) will meet Northridge (ranked 236th) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
