Basketball Recap: Gerstell Academy Comes Up Short

Gerstell Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 45-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Severn School Admirals. Gerstell Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Severn School apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Gerstell Academy still got an impressive performance from Kiara Hardy, who posted 20 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Hardy has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Cambrie Franks also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Gerstell Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Severn School, their record now sits at 12-4.

While Gerstell Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
