Softball Recap: Jefferson Wildcats vs. Swanton Bulldogs

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Jefferson's offense. They fell 5-0 to the Swanton Bulldogs on Wednesday. Jefferson has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Swanton's part, Taylor Forrest made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Forrest has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in seven consecutive pitching appearances. Forrest was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Payton DeTray was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 11-14-2. As for Swanton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson will challenge Van Buren at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Swanton, they will head out on the road to square off against Toledo Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Swanton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
