Soccer Game Preview: Patriot vs. Gainesville

The Patriot Pioneers will face off against the Gainesville Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Patriot is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to four goals on Friday, they were much more limited against Osbourn Park on Tuesday. They fell 2-0 to the Yellowjackets. The defeat continues a trend for Patriot in their meetings with Osbourn Park: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Gainesville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Yellowjackets.

Gainesville pushed their record up to 7-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four matches. As for Patriot, their loss dropped their record down to 3-8.

Patriot came out on top in a nail-biter against Gainesville in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
