Baseball Recap: Xaverian Brothers Finds Playoff Glory Versus Catholic Memorial

With a playoff win on the line, Xaverian Brothers rose to the challenge on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Catholic Memorial Knights 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Knights back in May, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Paul McCarthy tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

At the plate, Xaverian Brothers' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brady Hargraves, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Jake Lonardo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Xaverian Brothers pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Catholic Memorial, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-13.

Xaverian Brothers didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-3 defeat against Franklin on the 5th. Catholic Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
