Soccer Game Preview: University vs. Spruce Creek

University hasn't had much luck against Spruce Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The University Titans are taking a road trip to square off against the Spruce Creek Hawks at 7:00 p.m. University will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each match than the last.

University's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 5-0 margin over Mainland. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Titans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Spruce Creek hasn't lost a match since November 26th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 3-2 win from a begrudging Spruce Creek squad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Sandcrabs are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Tanner Mcclelland and Bennett Morse scored all three of Spruce Creek's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Spruce Creek pushed their record up to 10-2-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those four contests. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 4-6-1.

University suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Spruce Creek in their previous meeting last Monday. Can University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
