The Durango Demons will face off against the Montrose Red Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Durango beat Fruita Monument 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Demons.
While Durango might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Fruita Monument scored at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 27-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Montrose got the win against Gunnison on Tuesday by a conclusive 3-0. The victory continues a trend for the Red Hawks in their matchups with the Cowboys: they've now won four in a row.
Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Montrose took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-14, 25-14.
Durango better keep an eye on Player #28. She was instrumental in Montrose's win, getting 26 assists. Brooke Walters also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Montrose was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in nine consecutive matches.
Montrose's win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Durango, their victory bumped their record up to 6-12.
