Softball Recap: Academy of the Holy Names Takes a Loss

Academy of the Holy Names suffered their biggest loss since March 23, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against the Inspiration Academy Lions, falling 11-5. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ava LaBarbera made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kacey Scott, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Academy of the Holy Names has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Inspiration Academy, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

Looking ahead, Academy of the Holy Names will venture away from home to square off against Palm Harbor University at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hurricanes have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Inspiration Academy, they will welcome Calvary Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Lions have won ten straight at home dating back to last season, while the Warriors won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
