Holyoke came into their game on Saturday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Simla Cubs, falling 64-43. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Cubs are ranked 38th).

Despite the loss, Holyoke still got an impressive performance from Reid Sprague, who to rack up 22 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Sprague continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Colby Weber also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Simla to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tatum Kocerha, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Kocerha a new career-high. Caston Cox was another key player, putting up 21 points and five boards.

Holyoke's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Simla, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Holyoke will be taking part in a tournament against Akron at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Holyoke is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Simla, they have already played their next game, a 77-47 win against Hoehne on the 24th.
