Basketball Recap: London Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Veritas School over Randolph-Macon Academy

After flying high against The New Community School last Friday, Veritas School came back down to earth. The Veritas School Lions came up short against the Randolph-Macon Academy Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, falling 55-32. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 68-61 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was London Smith, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Chandler Davidson, who put up seven points.

Randolph-Macon Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Negussie, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points and seven rebounds. Negussie is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for five straight games. David Kayeye was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Veritas School's defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Randolph-Macon Academy, their record is now 11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Veritas School will welcome Spirit HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Spirit HomeSchool's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches. As for Randolph-Macon Academy, they will host Quantico at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
