Canyon del Oro (Tucson, Ariz.) didn't let up as Saturday's game came to a close, scoring zero in the fourth quarter to seal a 41-13 victory over
Marana (Tucson, Ariz.).
After taking the lead on a
Jordan Closs-Lopez touchdown run in the first quarter, the Dorados were up 34-7 at the half.
Canyon del Oro saw its 27-point halftime lead fall to two entering the fourth.
A 21-point second quarter helped CO secure the big victory. The Dorados scored on three rushing touchdowns in the quarter, including one by
Max Smith.
Canyon del Oro had given up an average of 16.3 points prior to the contest. Marana's 13 points were well below their season average of 32.6 per game.
The loss comes after Marana defeated Casa Grande 51-7 last week.
Canyon del Oro (7-1) goes up against Flowing Wells in a III Section V game matchup next week, while Marana (4-4) locks horns with Catalina Foothills also in a III Section V game.
