Softball Game Preview: Edison Spartans vs. Spencer-Van Etten/Candor Eagles

The Edison Spartans will head out to challenge the Spencer-Van Etten/Candor Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Edison is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.8 runs per game this season.

Edison saw some tournament action on Saturday. They put the hurt on Ardsley with a sharp 9-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won ten matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aurora Parlo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kailey Ripley, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosie Wheeler, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Spencer-Van Etten/Candor was able to grind out a solid victory over Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour on Tuesday, taking the game 6-3.

Edison's record is now 11-2. As for Spencer-Van Etten/Candor, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
