Preview: Johansen Vikings vs. Beyer Patriots
Johansen has been on the road for four straight, but on Wednesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Beyer Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Johansen has not done well against Lathrop recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Johansen came out on top against Lathrop by a score of 56-46.
Johansen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Wilbert Gaxiola, who scored 19 points. Gaxiola has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Caidan Bounmany was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Beyer was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 56-55 to Escalon.
Johansen's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Beyer, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Johansen was dealt a bruising 82-35 loss at the hands of Beyer when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Johansen, Jahmaree Gonder (who went 7 for 16 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points and 6 assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
