Recap: Fall River Bulldogs vs. Tulelake Honkers
The Fall River Bulldogs came tearing into Thursday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Tulelake 87-45 at home. Considering Fall River has won six matchups by more than 20 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fall River to victory, but perhaps none more so than Raul Iniguez, who scored 23 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The game was Iniguez's third in a row with at least ten points. Brandon Brown was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with eight assists and three steals.
Tulelake's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leo Leon, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. Leon scored a full 57.8% of Tulelake's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Daniel Garcia, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Tulelake struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fall River racked up 32 assists.
Fall River pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.3 points per game. As for Tulelake, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.
Fall River won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Portola at 2:40 p.m. on December 15th. Portola knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Fall River likes a good challenge. Tulelake will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Modoc at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Modoc focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
