Elbert had won three straight home games and Melanie Hermes did her part to make it four on Friday. Everything went the Elbert Bulldogs' way against the Denver Waldorf Spartans as the Elbert Bulldogs made off with a 49-24 win for which the team can thank Hermes, who went 10-for-17 to rack up 23 points and eight steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in field goal percentage (59%).

Another player making a difference was Paisley Vandergriff, who posted eight points and five steals. Elbert is undefeated when Vandergriff posts five or more steals, but 5-12 otherwise.

When it comes to explaining why Denver Waldorf lost, don't look at Annie O'Meara. Despite the final result, she earned 11 points along with six boards and six blocks. O'Meara is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last 12 games she's played.

Elbert has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-12 record this season. Denver Waldorf has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Elbert didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-25 victory against Deer Trail on the 24th. Denver Waldorf does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
