Baseball Recap: Islip Takes a Loss

Islip fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rocky Point on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. The loss continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost eight in a row.

Dylan Broschart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Islip's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Rocky Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

While Islip had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
