Baseball Recap: Nogales Comes Up Short

Nogales's last matchup with Azusa could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Thursday. The Nobles lost 10-4 to the Aztecs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Nobles have suffered since February 22, 2024.

Josh Chavez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Guzman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Nogales has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Azusa, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.

Coming up, Nogales will be playing in front of their home fans against Morningside at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The Nobles are facing the Monarchs at the right time seeing as the Monarchs are stuck on an 18-game losing streak. As for Azusa, they are taking a road trip to challenge Baldwin Park at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Braves' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Aztecs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
