Softball Recap: Slinger Takes a Loss

Slinger dropped down to 12-8 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Oak Creek Knights, falling 8-0. The Owls were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Knights' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Oak Creek, their win bumped their record up to 17-6. Considering they have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Oak Creek's part, not much got past Rita Sippy, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Slinger off the board. Sippy has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oak Creek got a big performance out of Kennedy Christopher, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Ana Menden, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Slinger will face off against Oshkosh West at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Oak Creek, they will head out to take on Westosha Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
