Softball Recap: Saugus Gets the Win

While Saugus put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Castaic. The Centurions walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Coyotes. The win continues a trend for the Centurions in their matchups with the Coyotes: they've now won seven in a row.

The result came thanks to Taliya Mata's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nicole Specht, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Saugus' record is now 15-4. As for Castaic, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Saugus will take on San Marcos at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Castaic, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on West Ranch at 3:15 p.m. on the 15th.
