Baseball Game Preview: Westfall Mustangs vs. Piketon Redstreaks

The Westfall Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Piketon Redstreaks at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Westfall will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

While Westfall's win against Paint Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Bearcats on Friday. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Bearcats on their field since April 26, 2023.

The team relied heavily on AJ Pluta, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Rick Hanley, who went 1-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Piketon lost 12-1 to Unioto on Friday. The Redstreaks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Westfall's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Piketon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.

Everything went Westfall's way against Piketon when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Westfall made off with a 12-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
