Basketball Recap: Potomac School Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Sidwell Friends

Potomac School is ranked highly in their home state and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Sidwell Friends. The Potomac School Panthers fell 50-40 to the Sidwell Friends Quakers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Quakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 54-33 back in January.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Akim Iscandari, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 14 points and six boards. Iscandari is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mason Douglas, who posted 14 points.

Jalyn Collingwood was a one-man wrecking crew for Sidwell Friends as he went 7-for-11 on his way to 22 points and seven rebounds. Those 22 points gave Collingwood a new career-high. Harrison Keyser also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Potomac School has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for Sidwell Friends, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-5.

Potomac School wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-55 victory against New Hope Academy National on the 8th. As for Sidwell Friends, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-45 win against Saint James on the 14th.
