Softball Recap: Stanton County Wins Going Away Against Ulysses

Stanton County won the last time they faced Ulysses and things went their way on Thursday too. The Trojans blew past the Tigers 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Sidney Parks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Summer Kendrick was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Valeria Ortega also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Stanton County and bumps their season record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Ulysses, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Stanton County beat the Tigers by a score of 16-5 later that day.
