            Baseball Recap: Fairmont Senior Polar Bears vs. Elkins Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            Fairmont Senior  took care of business in their home opener  (barely) on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elkins Tigers, sneaking past  4-3. The  win continues a trend for the Polar Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.

 Brayden Gorby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just two earned  (and one unearned) runs off   five  hits (and only one walk). Those  seven  strikeouts gave  him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with one  stolen base and one  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Cam Peschl, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most  runs  he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Bigelow Trevor, who  went 2-for-4 with two  RBI and one  double.
Elkins is  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 1-3.
 Fairmont Senior has already played their next contest,  a  19-2  victory against Grafton on the 29th. As for Elkins, they also  wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  game,  an  11-9  loss against Lincoln on the 25th.
