Basketball Recap: Muddy River Homeschool's Winning Streak Snapped at 22 Games

It was fun while it lasted, but Muddy River HomeSchool's undefeated season came to an end after 22 games on Saturday. They fell just short of Tyler HEAT by a score of 43-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Counselors came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 24th in Mississippi, while Tyler HEAT are ranked 101st in Texas).

When it comes to explaining why Muddy River HomeSchool lost, don't look at Sun Michael Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Williams is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Sanders, who posted eight points and four steals.

Tyler HEAT had a senior duo take command as Waker Hartman went 5 for 11 on his way to 18 points and Aiden Shelton went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and five rebounds. Eli Anderson was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Muddy River HomeSchool fell to 22-1. As for Tyler HEAT, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 26-2.

Muddy River HomeSchool does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Tyler HEAT, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-28 win against Tournament Opponent on the 20th.
