Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Della Smith and Paige Schlagenhaft Lead Marshfield to Victory

There's no place like home for Marshfield, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wausau East Lumberjacks on Tuesday. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 11th (when they won 3-0).

While Marshfield won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 26-24, 25-12.

Leading Marshfield to victory were Paige Schlagenhaft and Della Smith. Schlagenhaft had seven digs and two aces, while Smith hit 61.9% for 14 kills and 19 digs and five aces. That's the most digs Smith has posted over her last 11 matchups.

Marshfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-12 record this season. As for Wausau East, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-19.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Marshfield will challenge rival Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln on Saturday. Meanwhile, Wausau East is set to take on their familiar foe Wausau West on Saturday.
