Softball Recap: Lipscomb Academy Gets the Win

Lipscomb Academy won the last time they faced Pope John Paul II and things went their way on Thursday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Knights by a score of 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Mia Brauss was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Brauss was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Avery Story was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Corinne Pearman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Lipscomb Academy's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Pope John Paul II, they now have a losing record of 7-8-1.

Coming up, Lipscomb Academy will venture away from home to square off against Brentwood Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season. As for Pope John Paul II, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against East Robertson at 5:00 p.m.
