Basketball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Philip Simmons' Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Philip Simmons had won two straight home games and Hudson Hatch did his part to make it three on Tuesday. The Philip Simmons Iron Horses took their contest with ease, bagging a 79-34 win over the Woodland Wolverines thanks in part to Hatch, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four).

Josiah Young was another key player, putting up five points. He also grabbed a steal, marking his first of the season.

Philip Simmons is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.4 points per game. As for Woodland, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-10.

Philip Simmons will head out to take on Burke at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Juel Mack and Hatch. As for Woodland, they will host Andrews at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodland is facing Andrews at the right time seeing as Andrews is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
