Basketball Recap: Sparrows Point Takes a Loss

Sparrows Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Eastern Tech Mavericks, falling 82-43. While losing is never fun, the Pointers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while the Mavericks are ranked 90th).

Eastern Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Matthew Foley, who went 11 of 18 on his way to 29 points in addition to six assists and four steals. That's the most assists Foley has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jericho Wondeye, who went 8 for 13 en route to 17 points along with seven boards and six assists.

Sparrows Point's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Eastern Tech, their record now sits at 7-4.

Sparrows Point has already played their next match (against Catonsville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Eastern Tech wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 87-66 victory against Pikesville on the 22nd.
