Recap: Cherokee Trail Cougars vs. Highlands Ranch Falcons
The Cherokee Trail Cougars had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They strolled past Highlands Ranch with points to spare, taking the game 59-40. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cherokee Trail also won the last time the pair played back in November of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cherokee Trail to victory, but perhaps none more so than Delainey Miller, who scored 19 points along with 9 rebounds. Madeline Gibbs was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Highlands Ranch's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tori Baker, who scored 9 points along with 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kniyah Dumas, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds.
Cherokee Trail's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Highlands Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Cherokee Trail will be playing in front of their home fans against Pueblo West at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Highlands Ranch, they will face off against DSST: Conservatory Green at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
