Basketball Game Preview: Albuquerque Academy Chargers vs. Los Alamos Hilltoppers

The Albuquerque Academy Chargers will face off against the Los Alamos Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Albuquerque Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Albuquerque Academy will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 38-point drubbing they dealt Manzano on Friday. Albuquerque Academy really took it to Manzano for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-35 win. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Los Alamos played a tough contest on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 77-57 to Artesia. While losing is never fun, the Hilltoppers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 30th).

Albuquerque Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Los Alamos, they dropped their record down to 3-12 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Albuquerque Academy beat Los Alamos 54-45 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Albuquerque Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
