Basketball Game Preview: Golden Sierra Grizzlies vs. Mesa Verde Mavericks

The Golden Sierra Grizzlies will head out on the road to challenge the Mesa Verde Mavericks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Golden Sierra will head into Wednesday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 79-28 loss at the hands of Woodland Christian. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-14.

Meanwhile, Mesa Verde was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-58 heartbreaker at the hands of Rio Vista. Even if the Mavericks couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their offense, which had struggled int the games prior.

Golden Sierra moved to 12-11 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Mesa Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-18.

Golden Sierra couldn't quite finish off Mesa Verde when the teams last played back in January and fell 40-38. Can Golden Sierra avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
