Football Recap: Pearl River Skates Past Valhalla with Ease

Pearl River strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past the Valhalla Vikings to the tune of 41-0.

Pearl River was led to victory by Tommy Mahoney and TJ Lanese. Mahoney rushed for 105 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries, while Lanese rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Those 67 rushing yards gave Lanese a new career-high. Pearl River also got help from Kieran Fitzgerald, who showed off his sure hands for 81 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pearl River was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Pearl River didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Danny Fitzgerald. Thomas Mathews was another major factor on D, making 12 total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Pearl River's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Valhalla, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
