Basketball Recap: Miyamura Takes a Loss

Miyamura was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss. They fell 42-34 to the Aztec Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 59-18 two weeks ago.

Aztec's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jazzlyn Gomez led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Gomez a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Camden Mariano, who posted eight points in addition to six rebounds and six steals.

Miyamura's defeat dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Aztec, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Looking ahead, Miyamura will host Gallup at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Gallup's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three matches. As for Aztec, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Tigers challenge the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
