Volleyball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Advance

Advance waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Oak Ridge Blue Jays. That's more bragging rights for the Hornets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 19-25, 25-14, 25-20.

Advance can attribute much of their success to Brogan Hawkins, who had 17 digs. That's the most digs Hawkins has posted over her last eight matchups.

Advance was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in six consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Oak Ridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kenadie Ward had 11 digs and three aces. Ward has been hot for a while, having also posted 15 or more assists the last 29 times she's played.

Advance's victory bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Oak Ridge, their loss ended a seven-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-5-1.

Coming up, Advance will venture away from home to challenge Notre Dame at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oak Ridge, they will host Scott City at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
