Baseball Game Preview: Concord Bears vs. Northgate Broncos

For the second straight game, Concord will face off against Northgate. The Bears will welcome the Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Concord's hitters haven't had much luck over their past eight matches, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Concord came up short against Northgate on Tuesday, falling 10-2.

For Northgate's part, Max Carlos tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. Carlos has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Christopher Flores, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Cole Torrey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Northgate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Northgate is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Concord, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
