Softball Game Preview: Katy Taylor Mustangs vs. Seven Lakes Spartans

The Katy Taylor Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Seven Lakes Spartans at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Katy Taylor will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Katy Taylor is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Morton Ranch on Monday as Katy Taylor made off with an 18-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kaelyn Lerma made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Lerma was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jordan Talbert was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Cameron Roche was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Katy Taylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Seven Lakes lost 16-1 to Katy on Saturday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Dulce Franco made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Katy Taylor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. Seven Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Katy Taylor took their win against Seven Lakes in their previous matchup back in February by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Katy Taylor since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
