Basketball Game Preview: Tocoi Creek Toros vs. Nease Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Tocoi Creek Toros will get right back to it and host the Nease Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tocoi Creek has three straight victories, Nease has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Tocoi Creek is returning to their home court after beating Beachside on theirs, despite the fact Beachside has dominated at home this season. Tocoi Creek took their game on Thursday with ease, bagging a 69-29 win over Beachside. The Toros have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Nease came up short against Bishop Kenny on Tuesday and fell 41-30. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Tocoi Creek will have to keep a close watch on Chase Phifer and Jack Kuhl, a pair of players who had a big impact on Nease's prior game. Phifer posted six points and five boards, while Kuhl put up eight points.

Nease's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Tocoi Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Tocoi Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Nease in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 51-40. Does Tocoi Creek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Nease turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
