Basketball Game Preview: Futures Knights vs. Sacramento Waldorf Waves

The Futures Knights will face off against the Sacramento Waldorf Waves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-28, which was the final score in Futures' tilt against Forest Lake Christian on Tuesday. The Knights haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Sanaiya Singleton, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Emma Kharchenko, who put up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Sacramento Waldorf had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.6 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They really took it to the Patriots for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-14 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 25-2.

Sacramento Waldorf's win came from a few key players Futures will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ella Domin?, who went 7 for 10 on her way to 14 points in addition to five assists and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Payne, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points and six steals.

Sacramento Waldorf has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.1 points per game. As for Futures, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-10.

Futures ended up a good deal behind Sacramento Waldorf in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 43-24. Can Futures avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
