Volleyball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Armijo Royals

Fairfield hasn't had much luck against Armijo recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Royals at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Fairfield took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Foothill with a sharp 3-0 win.

Fairfield got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 30-28, 25-17.

Fairfield can attribute much of their success to Egypt Holloway, who had eight kills, two blocks, and two aces, and Bea Balomadres, who had ten assists and three aces. That's the most aces Balomadres has posted over her last five matches.

Meanwhile, Armijo beat Burbank 3-1 on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Armijo was especially dominant in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-23, 11-25, 25-14.

Fairfield's record now sits at 3-7. As for Armijo, their record is now 9-3.

Fairfield might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Armijo when the teams last played back in September. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
