Softball Game Preview: Williams Field Black Hawks vs. Mountain View Toros

The Williams Field Black Hawks will face off against the Mountain View Toros at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.

Williams Field fell victim to Hamilton and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Huskies. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Black Hawks were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Mountain View won against Desert Ridge on Saturday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Mountain View's pitcher stepped up to hand Cibola a 12-0 shutout. With that victory, the Toros brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Kylynn Sylvester, who fired off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.2 home runs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Keelie Goodman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cibola only posted an OBP of .300.

This is the second loss in a row for Williams Field and nudges their season record down to 5-3-1. As for Mountain View, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Williams Field took their win against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. Does Williams Field have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
