Baseball Recap: Newberg Comes Up Short

If Newberg was riding high fresh off their 13-0 takedown of Glencoe on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Sherwood Bowmen by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Tigers have struggled against the Bowmen recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Zadek Bowlby made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ethan Johnson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

Newberg's defeat dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Sherwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Sherwood beat Newberg by a score of 9-1 on Wednesday.
