Basketball Recap: South Lenoir Takes a Loss

South Lenoir was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were beaten by the Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs 62-35. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-14 on January 7th.

Defeat or not, South Lenoir got some senior leadership from Tyazhia Midgett and Gracie Tyndall. Midgett posted 13 points and eight boards, while Tyndall went 7 of 14 en route to 14 points. That's the most points Midgett has posted since back in January of 2024.

Leading Wallace-Rose Hill to victory were Savannah Smith and Nevaeh Dobson. Smith scored 20 points and four steals, while Dobson went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to six blocks and three steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Analeise Rivenbark, who put up 11 points and eight rebounds.

South Lenoir's record now sits at 1-15. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9.

South Lenoir and Dixon will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest having both just played. As for Wallace-Rose Hill, they will take on North Lenoir at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
