Basketball Recap: Cascade Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Cascade waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They had just enough and edged out the Western Boone Stars 40-38. The Cadets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Stars, too.

Cascade's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Macey Pugh led the charge by going 5-for-11 to rack up 15 points and eight rebounds. What's more, Pugh also posted a 25% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January of 2025. Taylor Gibbs was another key player, putting up eight points.

When it comes to explaining why Western Boone lost, don't look at Ally Lewis. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The contest was Lewis' third in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmerson Gott, who scored four points and eight rebounds.

Cascade's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Western Boone, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13.

Cascade has already played their next game (against Mooresville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Western Boone, they will venture away from home to face off against Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
