Baseball Game Preview: Grand Junction Central Warriors vs. Palisade Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Grand Junction Central will face off against Palisade. The Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Grand Junction Central is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

Grand Junction Central lost 10-4 to Palisade on Tuesday.

For Palisade's part, Christian Herrera and Ascher Morby dominated on the mound. Herrera pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Morby didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Morby also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Palisade is 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Dylon Larson was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Cash Salazar also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Palisade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Palisade moved to 8-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Grand Junction Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Grand Junction Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Palisade struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts.
