Basketball Recap: Pflugerville Connally Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Hannah Howie and Aniya Toney

Pflugerville Connally was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The matchup between them and the Pflugerville Panthers didn't end well, with the Pflugerville Connally Cougars falling 61-47. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1122nd, while the Panthers are ranked 324th).

Pflugerville Connally's loss came despite strong showings from Aniya Toney and Hannah Howie. Toney went 7 for 11 on her way to 19 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks, while Howie posted 24 points. That was a full 40.4% of Pflugerville Connally's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makrista Dolphus, who scored no points and nine boards.

Pflugerville Connally's loss dropped their record down to 1-24. As for Pflugerville, they now have a winning record of 15-14.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing East View the next time they take the court. Pflugerville will host East View at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Pflugerville Connally will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
